The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers-Brownsville Student Branch (IEEE-BSB) was established in 2006. Advised by Dr. Fabio Urbani, this chapter continues to have an impact in the local community with events like: Engineering Awareness Month, Informative Session Series, Summer Workshops, and IEEE-BSB week.

IEEE-BSB's mission is to foster technological advances for the benefit of humanity, while at the same time raising awareness of the engineering discipline and its role in the life of every individual.

The chapter is composed of undergraduate and graduate students from various disciplines in science and engineering.
